What have we been up to this semester?

The Poetry Slam

05/10/2015

Our first event of the year kicked us off to a flying start!Poetrysoc were fabulous! Harrisons 1864 were wonderful enough to let us use their function room, and what a room it was. Decked out with sme lovely fairy lights and comfy sofas, it made a perfect setting for THE POETRY SLAM. After a sacrificial poem, (to get us all in the mood) our excellent president Katie announced how the evening would run. Each participent had 3 minutes to impress the annoymous judges, who were marking them out of ten. The top three poets then went through to the second round, again performing another piece of original poetry. The winner won a meal voucher to Interval cafe!

Overall the evening was very chilled and thoughtfull. Many audience members were left feeling inspired, not only by the talent in the room, but the abilty to portray their feelings in such eloquent ways. We had our collecting buckets out and managed to raise a great chunk of money to send of the Cavendish! All in all a brilliant success!

The SUTCo/SUPAS SWAPOVER
24/10/2015
The Swapover

A Platform favourite! The Swapover involves each of these multi-talented committees writing a script in the style of their society for the other committee to perform! The Theme this year was 'A Mystery on West Street'! Both teams wrote hilarious scripts and performed with commendable enthusiasm.

SSUPAS - "The SUTCO SUPAS Swapover is always such a bizarre yet wonderful day where two committees come together to take the mickey out of one another to raise money for such a worthwhile charity. Spending a whole day locked up in a room with your committee, a script you have never seen and a whole lot of sugar and cake is the least we can do for Cavendish Cancer Care. It was a great day ending in performances that were maybe not so great!"
